Pro Bowl Eagles Cornerback Reveals Season-Ending Injury Details
Philadelphia Eagles cornerback James Bradberry missed the entire 2024 season due to an injury suffered during training camp.

The nature of his injury remained undisclosed until he was placed on injured reserve on August 29, which officially ended his season.
Now, following the Eagles’ Super Bowl triumph, Bradberry has opened up about the injury that cost him his entire campaign. Speaking to Brooks Kubena of The Athletic, Bradberry revealed that he tore both his Achilles and soleus muscles—an injury far more severe than initially believed.
Originally, team doctors projected a recovery timeline of three to five weeks. However, as time passed, it became clear that the damage was far more extensive, ruling him out for the entire year. The injury occurred while Bradberry was working at safety during training camp. The Eagles had him transitioning to the position after selecting highly-rated rookies Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean to bolster their cornerback room.

Despite the setback, Bradberry remains determined to return to the NFL in 2025. He stated that he is willing to play either safety or cornerback and is open to continuing his career with the Eagles or another franchise.
The 30-year-old veteran is a one-time Pro Bowler, earning the honor in 2020 during a standout season with the New York Giants. He signed with Philadelphia in 2022 and played a crucial role in their secondary. After his strong 2022 campaign, he secured a three-year contract extension in 2023.
However, Bradberry is set to enter the final year of his deal in 2025. Should the Eagles decide to release him, they would clear $7.8 million in salary cap space. His future with the franchise remains uncertain, but his resolve to return stronger next season is unquestionable.
