Pundit admits he got it totally wrong about two Celtic players this weekend.

Celtic have received a lot of criticism lately. Performances haven’t reached the heights of the previous two seasons, and, to be honest, Brendan Rodgers’ side has struggled to put teams away.
The attacking intent that we had grown accustomed to under Ange Postecoglou appears to have vanished, and the defence has occasionally looked shaky when under pressure.
However, pundit Tam McManus was particularly concerned about the back four ahead of the Scottish Cup tie against St Mirren at the weekend.

Brendan Rodgers was forced to completely reshuffle his squad due to injury issues. Greg Taylor and Alistair Johnston were replaced by Alexandro Bernabei and Anthony Ralston.
And, with Cameron Carter-Vickers still out injured, McManus was concerned that the Celtic defence would be exposed by the St Mirren frontmen.

McManus said [PLZ Soccer], “I thought Celtic were defending strongly. I looked at the Celtic back four and thought, ‘St Mirren may get something here today’.
“To be fair to Scales and Welsh, I thought they were solid. St Mirren put you under pressure with crosses into the box, and they defended well.
“Such a nice cup tie. Celtic were more clinical, and this was the difference.
Liam Scales has been an absolute rock for Celtic this season. Rodgers was on the verge of leaving the club in the summer, but a defensive injury crisis forced him to call on the Republic of Ireland international, who has barely missed a beat.

Welsh, despite missing the first few games of the season due to injury, has proven to be dependable whenever the Celtic manager has given him the nod.
Both players prepared well in Paisley, but there is no doubt that when Carter-Vickers returns to the side, Welsh will be back on the Celtic bench.
