Rams vs. Philadelphia Eagles: How to watch, team news and betting odds

Published

on

After securing a “home” game in a different state to progress to the NFC divisional round of the NFL playoffs, the Rams now face the Philadelphia Eagles on the road.

Lincoln Financial Field’s environment will be hostile and cold, a sharp contrast to the Rams’ more favorable conditions during their wild-card win over the Minnesota Vikings at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz.

The weather forecast predicts temperatures in the low 30s, with sleet and snow possible.

On Nov. 24, the Eagles defeated the Rams 37-20 at SoFi Stadium, but the Rams bounced back, winning five of their last six games before eliminating the Vikings.

The Rams are also fueled by emotion, aiming to uplift a region still reeling from recent wildfires.

In the wild-card round, the Eagles won 22-10 against the Green Bay Packers.

How the Rams can win: To secure a victory, the Rams must contain Eagles running back Saquon Barkley, who ran for 255 yards and two long touchdowns against them in November. If they can manage Barkley, the pass rush that earned nine sacks against the Vikings can put pressure on quarterback Jalen Hurts. Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford must avoid mistakes in difficult weather, and running back Kyren Williams must protect the ball.

How the Eagles can win: The Eagles’ offensive line must continue to create space for Barkley to perform at a high level while keeping the Rams’ aggressive pass rush away from Hurts. Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio will need to adapt to the absence of injured linebacker Nakobe Dean and find ways to pressure Stafford and Williams into turnovers.

Key injuries
Rams: DL Bobby Brown III (shoulder, questionable but expected to play); CB Ahkello Witherspoon (thigh, questionable but expected to play); OL Alaric Jackson (chest/knee, questionable but expected to play); OL Justin Dedich (illness, questionable but expected to be available); ILB Troy Reeder (hamstring, out); DL Larrell Murchison (foot, out).

Eagles: DT Byron Young (hamstring, out).
