Rangers and Celtic in Last-Minute January Transfer Negotiations
As the January transfer window nears its conclusion, both Glasgow giants, Rangers and Celtic, are pushing hard to finalize key deals.

Here’s a look at the latest developments for the rivals as they brace for the closing frenzy.
Rangers in ‘High Pressure’ Negotiations Over Rabbi Matondo Exit

Rangers winger Rabbi Matondo is reportedly in advanced discussions regarding a potential move back to Germany. The 24-year-old has struggled with injuries this season, making just eight appearances in all competitions.
An image circulating on social media appears to show Matondo in a meeting at the Courtyard Hotel near Hannover’s stadium, suggesting talks with Bundesliga 2 side Hannover 96.
German outlet Bild (via Daily Record) reports that Hannover sporting director Marcus Mann is negotiating with Rangers over various deal structures, including a loan with or without an option to buy, as well as a permanent sale.
Manager Philippe Clement is reportedly open to Matondo’s departure to free up funds for further transfers.
Celtic’s Bid for Norwegian Winger Rejected

Celtic’s efforts to secure a late attacking reinforcement have hit a snag after their bid for Norwegian star Sondre Ørjasæter was rejected by Sarpsborg 08[67 Hail Hail]. The Hoops had offered around £4.4 million for the 21-year-old, but the Norwegian side is holding firm, valuing him at £7 million.
Sarpsborg sporting director Hampus Andersson stated: “Our main goal is to not sell him this window and keep him at least to the end of the season.”
Despite the setback, Celtic remain eager to negotiate, with their interest in Ørjasæter reportedly ongoing.
The Glasgow giants now face a race against time to wrap up their respective transfer dealings before the market closes.
