Rangers are interested in signing Aberdeen youngster Connor Barron during the summer transfer window. Barron’s contract expires this summer, according to a recent report from Football League World. Although Swansea City has already had a £500,000 offer rejected, the report states that their interest “remains” and that “Glasgow giants Celtic and Rangers are monitoring Barron.”

It further states that “whilst they remain in dialogue over an extension, Barron will be free to talk to other clubs, and if he does depart, Aberdeen will only be entitled to training compensation should the academy graduate move on.”
Barron is still a young player still learning the game, but he has already proven he is a talented player who can compete in the Scottish Premiership. This season, he has made three appearances in the competition, completing 88.2% of his passes, in addition to six appearances in the Conference League.

In the past, Connor Barron has also received praise from former Rangers midfielder Andy Halliday, who stated: “To be honest, I thought Connor Barron was the best player on the pitch on Saturday.” In addition, his contract expires in the summer. While I’m not attempting to sway him from Aberdeen, I always believe that Celtic and Rangers should focus on them when seeking to add domestic players to their European rosters. I felt he was very good.

Barron’s contract expires in the summer, as Halliday suggests, so he would be free to sign and could be considered a fantastic midfield option going forward.

His youth team accomplishments include 26 caps for Scotland, which further establish his credentials. Given his age, he presents Clement with an intriguing long-term option. It remains to be seen if the Gers can fend off opposition from teams like Swansea, who play in the Championship, and Celtic.
