Rangers fans have a thing for the first time in years that Celtic supporters do not says Willie Miller

Rangers’ chipping away at Celtic’s lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership reached a climax last night, and it appears that we are in for one of the most competitive title races in a long time.
This weekend, Celtic fans will travel to Parkhead to see how Brendan Rodgers’ team fare against Kilmarnock, who are neck and neck at the top of the table.
To be honest, the starting lineup could include almost anything. We’ve seen Rodgers tinker with the team recently due to injury, and these changes have paid off over the last two games.
However, it is undeniable that fans are growing tired of watching their team struggle against the league’s smaller teams.

This has resulted in a general malaise at games, with Celtic supporters feeling detached at times due to the quality of football they have been watching.
Willie Miller, an Aberdeen legend, has stated that there appears to be a disconnect between this Celtic team and its fans in comparison to those throughout the city.

Miller stated [Scottish Football Podcast], “There just seems to be a connection between Rangers players and Rangers fans that I haven’t seen in many, many years, and I don’t think that’s the case at Celtic right now.
“I think there’s a kind of an atmosphere at Celtic Park where they’re not enjoying it as much, there’s not as much connection.”I’m not sure, but Brendan Rodgers doesn’t appear to be very enthusiastic about what he’s trying to accomplish this season, whereas I believe Clemente is.

Willie Miller’s comments just underpin how Celtic have dominated Rangers
As is always the case, success on the pitch serves as the foundation for the bond between Celtic fans and players.

Despite poor performances, Celtic remain in contention for a league and cup double.
The majority of the disconnect stems from off-field issues rather than what is happening on the pitch. Unrest over a lack of transfer business in January, combined with players brought in during the summer and labelled as not good enough months later, has left supporters dissatisfied with what’s going on at their club.

The fact that the Rangers fans are so excited about a season that, in all honesty, has lacked quality from both teams demonstrates how Celtic’s dominance over the last 20 years has influenced the Ibrox faithful.
Rangers fans, deprived of any real sustained periods of success, are clinging to the fact that they have managed to get close to Celtic this season, when we are usually out of sight.
