Rangers have another deal in pipeline after signing Fernandes on loan – Chris Jack
Rangers are reportedly pursuing Dundee midfielder Lyall Cameron alongside their move for Lille defender Rafael Fernandes, but the latter is expected to be finalized first, according to journalist Chris Jack.
In a report published on 17 January, Jack stated that the deal for Cameron is in progress, with Dundee set to receive compensation if he departs at the end of his current contract. However, Fernandes is considered the priority at this stage, and negotiations to sign the 22-year-old defender are ongoing.
Rangers’ need for an attacker in January
While progress appears to be moving in the right direction regarding Fernandes, Rangers also need reinforcements in their attacking lineup during the January transfer window.
Cameron is a highly regarded midfielder, and his move to Ibrox is anticipated once his Dundee contract expires this summer. However, more pressing for Rangers is the acquisition of a forward, particularly if Cyriel Dessers ends up leaving the club.
The need for a striker has become even more urgent after Danilo suffered another injury setback, with no clear timeline for his return to full fitness. Hamza Igamane has proven his quality as a dependable player, but expecting him to play every minute of every game is unrealistic, underscoring the necessity for backup options in the squad.
Rangers may also consider signing a high-caliber number nine, which would allow the versatile Moroccan to shift to the left wing—a role where he has demonstrated his ability to excel.
