Rangers Issue Strong Warning to Fans Ahead of Dundee Clash

Rangers have released a firm statement addressing fan behavior, particularly the use of pyrotechnics and inappropriate chanting, ahead of their upcoming Premiership match against Dundee at Dens Park on Saturday at 5:30 PM GMT.

The club has faced multiple fines from both the SPFL and UEFA this season due to supporter misconduct, which has cost them significant amounts in penalties. Rangers were sanctioned for pyrotechnic use during matches against Motherwell and Celtic in the Premier Sports Cup, resulting in 500 fans being banned from their next visit to Hampden Park, with an additional suspended ban of 800 supporters hanging over them.

Recently, UEFA also fined Rangers for a “racist/discriminatory” banner displayed at Ibrox during their game against Fenerbahce, imposing a suspended stadium closure as part of the punishment. The club strongly condemned the incident, stating that individuals who align with such behavior are not welcome at Ibrox.

Rangers’ Warning on Pyrotechnics and Illegal Chants

Given these previous infractions, Rangers have reiterated their commitment to eliminating inappropriate behavior, emphasizing their zero-tolerance stance on illegal chanting, discriminatory actions, and pyrotechnic use inside stadiums.

In their statement, the club declared:

*”Rangers has been sanctioned by both the SPFL and UEFA for unacceptable supporter behavior this season, and any further incidents could have severe consequences for the club. The greatest asset Rangers has is its supporters, and we are always grateful for your unwavering loyalty and backing at every match, home and away.

However, the use of pyrotechnics, throwing objects, illegal chanting, and displaying discriminatory messages only harms the club’s reputation. Rangers will take strong and appropriate action against those responsible, and we urge all fair-minded supporters to stand against such behavior.

Supporters are also reminded that face coverings are prohibited under ground regulations.”*

Previous Incidents at Dens Park

Rangers fans have a history of causing disruptions at Dens Park. On November 1, 2023, during one of Philippe Clement’s early games in charge, Rangers supporters filled the Bob Shankly Stand and set off numerous pyrotechnics, creating a massive fireworks display.

This led to the match being temporarily halted just two minutes after kickoff due to thick smoke affecting visibility and triggering the stadium’s fire alarms.

With the club already facing scrutiny, Rangers have made it clear that any repeat offenses could have serious consequences.
