Rangers man must force Jan out as news breaks today, international place now under threat

Rangers are on a roll under manager Philippe Clement, with the Frenchman turning things around at Ibrox.

And it has been a true team effort, with almost the entire squad contributing to the recent improvement in form across all competitions.

Robby McCrorie, on the other hand, has sat on the bench this season, as the custodian has yet to appear for the Gers.

In fact, the shot-stopper has only appeared for the Scottish giants six times, four times last season and twice the previous season.

McCrorie, who played heavily at the end of the previous season as Allan McGregor’s spell at Ibrox came to an end, may have expected to start in goal this time around.

But the arrival of former Crystal Palace and Manchester United player Jack Butland in the summer transfer window completely derailed his plans. Despite the fact that the Gers are competing in a variety of competitions, McCrorie has yet to see any action.

Scotland manager Steve Clarke will be well aware of the ongoing situation at Ibrox, despite having called up the Rangers player for the current international break.

But it was Hearts’ Zander Clark who got the start against Georgia on Thursday (16 November), with McCrorie joining Motherwell’s Liam Kelly on the bench.

However, given that injured number one Angus Gunn will undoubtedly return next time out, at least one member of that trio is certain to be dropped for future squads.

With Scotland’s place in Euro 2024 already confirmed, McCrorie must seriously consider his Rangers future, with a place in Clarke’s squad looking unlikely if the player continues to warm the bench at Ibrox until then.
