Rangers star responds on social media after being caught in bizarre incident while on international duty

Ridvan Yilmaz of the Rangers has responded on social media after being involved in an unusual incident while on international duty.

The Turkey international was shown a yellow card while sitting on the bench in his country’s 3-2 win over Germany on Saturday (18 November), but the left-back caused much confusion as fans on social media questioned who had been booked because they couldn’t see who it was because they were wearing a hat, snood, gloves, and a large jacket.

Following the uproar, the 22-year-old took to Instagram on Sunday (19 November) to confirm it was him who received the warning, posting a photo of himself with a hands-up emoji and a laughing face.

Strange

Yilmaz was caught up in a strange incident because the game was already in injury time when he received his yellow card.

It’s not surprising that many people were perplexed by who had been booked, given how difficult it is to determine who the player in question is.

Although Yilmaz’s card probably did not help his chances of coming off the bench, he will have been pleased to see Turkey defeat Germany.

Despite sitting on the bench for the entire game on what appeared to be a cold night in Berlin, the left-back appeared to be in good spirits when he responded to the incident on social media.

He’ll be hoping for a chance to play when his country faces Wales in their final European Championship qualifier on Tuesday (21 November), even though they’ve already qualified for the tournament.
