Following a recent transfer update, John Lundstram informs Rangers that he wishes to leave Ibrox.

According to Gunebakis, John Lundstram has informed Rangers executives that he wishes to leave Ibrox when his contract expires this summer.

The Turkish news source claims that the Hers intend to offer him a new contract and keep him at the team for the upcoming season as a member of Philippe Clement’s squad in a post published on their website on April 19.
However, he has now declared that he wants a “new adventure” in his career and appears set to join Ipswich after they made a move to bring him in ahead of Trabzonspor. This comes after failing to agree terms with the 30-year-old midfielder despite rumours a deal was close.

Does John Lundstram deserve a new contract from the Rangers?

It’s safe to say that Lundstram has been the team’s best midfield player since Clement replaced Michael Beale earlier in the season.

Given his experience and significance to the team, it is understandable that Clement wants to keep him at the club despite the fact that his contract is about to expire in the summer. However, opinions among supporters are divided.

The former midfielder for Sheffield United has frequently struggled with consistency and has almost never been able to make an impact against Celtic or in Europe’s biggest games.
It wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing if the manager wants him to stay, but it would be a major blow to the summer plans if he left.

If he leaves, the team will be able to transfer his salary to younger players who better fit the manager’s vision. It’s unfortunate that the board failed to secure a fee for him, but Rangers are in a dire situation once more as a result of their own bad planning.
