Rangers v Celtic: squad news, referee details, kickoff time, and where to watch.
Celtic play Rangers in the Cinch Premiership on Sunday, with the Scottish Champions travelling to Ibrox. Brendan Rodgers’ team has already won their two meetings this season, 1-0 at Ibrox in September and 2-1 at Celtic Park in December.
The game has particular significance given the number of games remaining and the tight race at the top – Celtic lead by one point, but Philippe Clement’s squad has a game in hand following the controversial call-off at Dens Park.
Team News
Rodgers has a full team to pick from for the first time in this fixture. Callum McGregor has battled his way back from a calf strain to be in contention for the encounter, while Luis Palma has recovered from a calf injury and returned to training.
Joe Hart was outstanding in the victory back in September, keeping a clean sheet and making several vital saves. When he makes his farewell appearance at Ibrox, the Englishman will be hoping to leave an impression.
Celtic will be able to start Cameron Carter-Vickers in this match for the first time since winning the Scottish Cup Semi Final last season. The USA International missed the first match due to knee surgery, and then missed the December triumph at Celtic Park due to a hamstring ailment. Liam Scales will join Cameron Carter-Vicker in the central pairing, with Greg Taylor and Alistair Johnston.
Reo Hatate began partnered Matt O’Riley in the win over Livi, with Tomoki Iwata holding. The manager must decide whether to stick with this three or bring the returning Celtic captain into the lineup. Rodgers’ words appeared to indicate that he was hesitant to take a chance on the Scotland Internationalist.
Kyogo has seven goals in six appearances versus Rangers, and the talisman is set to start, despite Adam Idah’s impressive performance since signing from Norwich. The Irishman will have to be prepared to come off the bench and make an impression. Expect Daizen Maeda to start on the left, aggravating and testing James Tavernier. On the right wing, Nicolas Kühn is expected to start.
Referee Details
John Beaton has been nominated by the SFA to referee the match. Beaton, who faced criticism for his VAR choices in the defeat at Hearts, will be assisted by Daniel McFarlane and Dougie Potter, with Willie Collum serving as Fourth Official.
Meanwhile, at Clydesdale House, Nick Walsh, who refereed the 2-1 triumph in December, is using VAR with Frank Connor helping.
Kick-Off Time
The game begins at 12 noon (Celtic Park Time).
Where To Watch
Sky Sports will broadcast the game exclusively in the UK, with coverage beginning at 11 a.m. on Sky Sports Football and Sky Sports Main Event.
Celtic TV, the club’s streaming channel for subscribers outside of Britain and Ireland, will broadcast the game. All customers will be given the option to view a replay later on Sunday.
