Report: Manchester City will try and turn the head of Nottingham Forest star this month
Manchester City make decision on Ola Aina
It’s been reported in recent months that City are keen to sign Aina as a replacement for Kyle Walker who has declined somewhat during the current campaign.
Now, Give Me Sport has claimed that City are weighing up whether or not to move for Aina before the transfer deadline in early February.
Aina is in contract talks with Forest and a transfer fee will need to be agreed with the Reds if City are to prove successful in their efforts to sign the player this month.
Before making any firm bids, City is rumored to be testing the waters to see if they can win over the Nigerian.
With more than half of the season already played, City is currently six points behind Forest in the Premier League standings.
Aina seems content at Forest, but if City is successful in their short-term attempts to recruit him, it is unclear where his head will be.
Ola Aina stats 2024/25
Since checking in on a free transfer after leaving Torino, Aina has quickly become a fan favourite with his all-action performances.
Aina leaving the team too soon would be upsetting, and it would be almost sad to watch him sign with another Premier League team.
Ola Aina stats 2024/25 | Total |
Appearances | 20 |
Goals | 2 |
Tackles | 41 |
Interceptions | 26 |
Clearances | 53 |
Given that Forest is on the verge of accomplishing something truly remarkable this season, it is difficult to see him wanting to leave the City Ground at this time.
It’s unclear what will happen in the summer, but it seems quite unlikely that any player will proactively try to depart in the coming weeks.
Hopefully, Forest will be able to enjoy the defender for many years to come and Aina will be granted an even longer deal.
