Revealed: Nottingham Forest open talks to sign defender

According to sources who spoke to Football Insider, Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa have begun negotiations to sign Lamare Bogarde to a long-term contract.

As Football Insider exclusively disclosed on May 3, Villa had originally intended to loan the 20-year-old Bogarde to a Dutch team for the upcoming campaign.
But, while Forest works out a potential £4 million deal, the team may now agree to a permanent transfer for the player.
Bogarde, a left-back who was acquired by Aston Villa from Feyenoord in 2020, played 35 games while on loan at Bristol Rovers in League One in 2023 and 2024.

The Forest target has only played in one senior game for his current team, back in the FA Cup against Liverpool in 2021 when he was just 16 years old.

Work on signing Lamare Bogarde from Aston Villa is underway at Nottingham Forest.
With Bogarde joining as a young player prepared to enter a Premier League first-team setting, Nottingham Forest is hoping to wrap up business early in the transfer window.

The goal was to send the skilled midfielder and defender from the Netherlands Under-20 international back to the Eredivisie so he could continue to gain experience. According to Football Insider [9th May], AZ Alkmaar is leading the race.

Rather than returning to his native country on a loan, Bogarde is now anticipated to relocate to the City Ground.

In order to meet PSR requirements, Aston Villa is eager to offload fringe players this month. On June 21, Football Insider exclusively disclosed that the team had already sold midfielder Tim Iroegbunam to Everton for a potential £10 million deal.
