Rodgers clears up mystery of ‘disappearing’ midfielder

Brendan Rodgers has provided some insight on Odin Thiago Holm’s current situation.

The young Norwegian, who was signed in the summer of 2023, was in the starting lineup at the beginning of the previous campaign but appeared to fall behind Daniel Kelly after the year ended.

Holm played three games in August as a substitute, but Luke McCowan’s arrival increased competition for midfield spots because the former Valerenga player was unable to make the matchday squad and was not included in the 25 players selected for Champions League duty.

We are in a really good place. Everyone is fit and healthy. We’ve only got one in Odin (Thiago Holm) who’s been out for a little while with his calves. But other than that, I’m really happy that we’ve managed to get through into this period now in a really healthy way. So, all fine fitness wise.

The availability of Callum McGregor, Adam Idah and Nicolas Kuhn gives the squad for Saturday’s match against Aberdeen a real boost with greater quality and depth.

Unless there is an outbreak of injuries it is hard to see how Holm can revive his Celtic career with a loan move or permanent transfer in January looking like the logical conclusion.
