Forest have had an academy graduate present in squad for 83 years

Since October 1941, a current run of a whopping 4081 consecutive matches, Forest have named an academy graduate in their matchday squad.

Over the course of these 83 years, the club has had 31 manager changes (not counting caretakers) and over 850 players come and gone, yet they have never forgotten their academy rule.

An impressive and extremely proud record, but one that is difficult to maintain at the moment.

With Yates the academy graduate usually in question, Nuno could turn to someone relatively unknown around The City Ground.

Nuno Espirito Santo could turn to Zach Abbott for Everton game

Nottingham Forest fans believe the man for the job could be Zach Abbott, who would be named among the substitutes when they travel to Goodison Park.

The 18-year-old Abbott made his debut for the Forest first team in an EFL Cup victory over Grimsby Town, and he has since played against Newcastle United in the same competition.

Many of England’s top, including Manchester United, whom Abbott passed by last season, also like him.

Abbott has a bright future at Forest. It appears to be the best chance to be selected as a substitute for the Premier League match.

They will undoubtedly be a relatively unknown Forest face at Goodison on Sunday; only time shall tell.
