Simon Jordan insists ‘no-one would have legislated for’ red-hot Nottingham Forest transfer

Simon Jordan has warned Nottingham Forest they are ‘a long way’ from being the finished article despite a run of rampant form that has taken them into the Premier League ’s top three.

The Reds’ 3-0 victory over West Ham on Saturday moved them into the Champions League positions and added to the enthusiasm already building at the City Ground.

Jordan, a former Crystal Palace owner and commentator, acknowledges that he has been impressed by Forest and has been mistaken about their season’s outcome, but the broadcaster maintains that there is still more work to be done.

“I look at Forest as a side. Chris Wood is hitting a vein of form that no one would have legislated for,” he said on the White and Jordan show on talkSPORT. “I mean, this is a very good player, a decent signing from Newcastle when they needed to get out of trouble at the beginning of Eddie Howe’s tenure but not perceived to be a goal scorer in the manner that he’s scoring goals for Nottingham Forest.

“I believed Forest was a terrific side when I watched them play my Palace a few weeks back. They seem like a positive side now. Players like Callum Hudson-Odoi are becoming more reliable, Gibbs-White is a superb player, and they appear to be a strong defensive team.

“And to be fair to Forest, I predicted that they would lose this season because I believed that if you travel around the plughole enough times, you will eventually end up falling down it. However, aside than that, they are excellent.

They have brought players back into the fold like Yates that were potentially ostracised for a period of time under Steve Cooper. This looks like a good side, a long way away from a finished product of a season… but right now Nottingham Forest are in very good nick.”
