On Saturday, Ipswich Town will play Coventry City in the Championship at Portman Road.

The Tractor Boys suffered a rare defeat on Saturday, falling 2-0 to West Bromwich Albion, but bounced back with a 3-1 home win over Millwall on Wednesday night.

Conor Chaplin gave Ipswich the lead in the fifth minute, and Massimo Luongo doubled their lead seven minutes later from the edge of the box.

As the hosts continued to dominate, Bartosz Bialkowski denied George Hirst, and Nathan Broadhead headed in Leif Davis’ cross before halftime.

Kevin Nisbet converted Ryan Longman’s cross in the 78th minute to give the Lions hope, but it was only a consolation.

Kieran McKenna’s team is currently second in the table, one point behind leaders Leicester City and seven points ahead of third-placed Leeds United.

Coventry had a disappointing start to the season after losing on penalties to Luton Town in the play-off final last season, but they secured their second consecutive victory on Tuesday night with a 1-0 win over Plymouth Argyle at the CBS Arena.

The Sky Blues had the upper hand in the first half, with Ben Sheaf wasting two good chances, but the Pilgrims improved after the break, with Ben Waine, Finn Azaz, Luke Cundle, and Lewis Gibson all going close.

Haji Wright scored from close range for Coventry in the 75th minute, but the ball appeared to have gone out of play before Milan van Ewijk pulled it back to the striker, who would prove to be the winner as the hosts held on for all three points.

Mark Robins’ team is currently 15th in the table, eight points off the play-offs and nine points clear of the relegation zone.

What did David Prutton predict?

Prutton, a Sky Sports pundit, believes Ipswich will maintain their strong home form against Coventry, predicting a 2-1 victory for the Tractor Boys.

“Ipswich had a tough defeat at West Brom on Saturday, but then followed it up by blowing Millwall away on Wednesday night. They just have to keep that gap as big as they can over the chasing pack,” Prutton said on the Sky Sports website.

“Coventry have had a great week, winning both games to blow away a few cobwebs. Can they keep that up at Portman Road? I don’t think so.”Will

Ipswich Town triumph over Coventry City?

On this point, it’s difficult to disagree with Prutton.

Ipswich have been excellent at Portman Road this season, and their win over Millwall on Wednesday was the ninth time in ten games that they have scored three or more goals.

Coventry won back-to-back games against Millwall and Plymouth to move out of the relegation zone, and they will be confident going into this game.

However, given the Tractor Boys’ strong home form, another three points against the Sky Blues appears likely.
