According to Sky Sports, Southampton full back Jayden Meghoma is attracting interest from several European clubs, including Ajax, Anderlecht, Basel, and Red Bull Salzburg.

Meghoma has made just four first-team appearances for the Saints since joining from the Tottenham academy in 2022. Despite his lack of senior experience, numerous potential suitors are lining up to sign the defender, who has one year left on his contract at St. Mary’s.

It is understood that the player is unlikely to renew his contract with the south coast club, as he seeks a new football home where he will be given playing time. If he leaves for free next summer, Southampton will receive a small compensation package due to his age.

The left back is open to a move.

Meghoma, a highly rated prospect in Tottenham’s academy, left North London for Southampton two years ago, signing an initial scholarship deal with the south coast club. Despite extensive experience with England youth teams at various age levels, the Saints have yet to provide him with opportunities to establish himself at senior level.

Four appearances last season, all in cup competitions, may have caused the teenager to become frustrated, sparking speculation that he will leave this summer. Saints manager Russell Martin chose Ryan Manning ahead of him at left-back, with the Irishman making 37 Championship appearances last season. After securing promotion back to the Premier League, Meghoma’s game time may become even more limited next season.

With 12 months until his current contract expires, the youngster will be able to sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club in January. If the Southampton hierarchy does not sanction a move for the player this summer, he may decide to take this route out, running down his contract and walking out as a free agent the following year.

According to Sky Sports, Ajax, Anderlecht, Basel, and Salzburg are keeping an eye on “talented” Meghoma’s situation and are eager to sign the promising full-back. All four teams may be able to offer European football, which could be another appealing aspect of moving abroad.

Jorrel Hato of Ajax has been linked with a move to Arsenal, potentially opening a pathway in the Dutch team for Meghoma. Meanwhile, the other three aforementioned clubs are reportedly looking for a left-back to supplement their current options in this position.

Rak-Sakyi is also wanted by Leeds.

While the Saints may be about to lose one of their young players, they may also be about to add another. Martin is looking to strengthen in the forward areas ahead of the Premier League season, and he has identified 21-year-old Crystal Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi as a possible candidate.

Rak-Sakyi is wanted on loan by several Championship clubs, including Leeds, but Southampton are reportedly set to make an offer of £12 million for the England under-20 international. For a player with only eight top-flight appearances in his career, such an offer would undoubtedly be too tempting for the Palace hierarchy to turn down.
