Celtic F.C
Something is clearly wrong at Celtic.
There is a clear issue with the performance, pitch, Brendan’s post-match words, and board.
Well, that was a rather forgettable 90 minutes yesterday afternoon. What began so brightly after Alistair Johnston’s first-minute goal turned into a dire trudged performance. It was, frankly, shocking.
Celtic lacked desire, tempo, passing ability, and were incredibly wasteful in front of goal. All of these things are a recipe for disaster, and it made for an uncomfortable afternoon against a team that ranks second last in the table.
The only positive was that we won and earned all three points. That is all that matters in the cold light of day, I suppose, but something is clearly wrong at Celtic Park right now. From pitch problems. The performances on it, as well as concerns about new signings (or lack thereof), are engulfing the entire club.
Brendan’s post-match analysis, in which he appeared to mock the fans while also defending his bosses, exacerbated the negative atmosphere. That is a major concern moving forward. Brendan’s return was met with scepticism from some fans, and his comments yesterday will not have helped him.
Although he has more pressing needs to address first, he must resolve the issues we are currently experiencing on the pitch or the supporters will quickly turn against him. He is making a lot of money and will need to work for it. We may not be getting the desired quality, and while this is not Brendan’s fault, he is still accountable for performances on the pitch.
Yes, we are at the top, but that does not diminish the challenges we are currently facing. Brendan and the board are both responsible for this, which they must address in the coming weeks. Failure to do so will only result in tears. You can count on the supporters not to take much more.
