Celtic have been actively working to keep the midfielder, who has played an important role throughout the season. Bernardo played 34 games this season, scoring four goals and three assists.

The 22-year-old scored in the Glasgow Derby victory over Rangers in December and contributed to the Scottish Cup Final victory over Rangers by collecting the ball from midfield, riding a tackle and forcing Butland into an error that Adam Idah capitalised on.
