But in his first interview with the media after accepting the Sunderland position, Le Bris expressed his wish to retain key players at the team. When the Frenchman spoke for the first time about the transfer market, he also mentioned the club’s aspirations.

“The market and transfer window will undoubtedly not go as planned, but we will adjust to the situation and, in the end, I believe, we’ll have a well-balanced team with players who can both play our style of play and contribute on the pitch.

When asked about Clarke in particular, Le Bris said, “We like good players – the players who can dribble, attack the box, score, and give the last important passes.”
“They play a crucial role for the team. He is a valuable player, but the team also needs the other players. With one, two, or three more players, I believe it will be very beneficial to be able to perform quickly if we manage to retain the core of this team. He and the other players are all very important.
