The Celtic Doctors’ Brilliant Message to Injury-plagued Defender
Dane Murray, a central defender for Celtic, has suffered terrible injuries thus far in his brief career.
Due to his injury, the defender has missed several critical developmental phases over the course of the last almost two years.
During the preseason, he made his comeback to the Celtic first team, leading Brendan Rodgers’ team against Ayr United for a spell.
Since then, Murray has been on loan at Queen’s Park, where he has shown promise.
In fact, the defender’s performance this month earned him a call-up to the Scotland under-21 team, where he made his debut last Friday against Spain.
At Tynecastle, Scot Gemmill’s team suffered a heartbreaking 2-1 loss, although Murray and company occasionally competed.
The powerful center-half played solid defence and is expected to start again against Malta tonight.
He has overcome multiple injury setbacks to resume his career.
Murray had a history of knee issues, but Celtic’s medical staff has since given him the all-clear. He shouldn’t have to deal with it again.
“We might be here for a while if we are discussing my injuries,” he remarked (The Scottish Sun).
“I suffered my first cruciate ligament injury about two years ago, missing a year of work.”
After a month or so, I resumed training, and a month later, I injured the same knee, forcing me to miss another year of competition.
“It wasn’t great to do it twice; I was in a good position at Celtic before that.”However, the club treated me very well, and their rehabilitation was first-rate. According to the doctors, I shouldn’t experience any more knee issues. I’m in the best shape I’ve ever been in after returning.
It’s encouraging to see Murray back on the pitch enjoying football after everything he’s been through.
The 21-year-old should not have to go through what he has, but it will only help him in the long run.
Murray may be able to return to Celtic and contribute to the team after his loan at Queen’s.
