According to Bloomberg, Everton has received an offer from private equity firm GDA Luma Capital for a loan of up to £150 million.

The American company, which specialises in special situations and distressed debt, has offered the money to support the club in building its new stadium, Bramley-Moore Dock, which is scheduled to be finished by the end of the year.
The Esk, however, asserted on X [14 May] that this loan would make “no sense” because it would only take the place of the existing one from MSP Sports Capital, which is reportedly vying with 777 Partners to acquire a majority share in the team from Farhad Moshiri.

The article further stated that because of frantic efforts to guarantee the stadium is operational within the suggested time frame, the loan would require higher interest payments.

Funding concerns for Everton Stadium still exist

A predetermined amount of club capital has been secured, with Sean Dyche’s team confirmed to play Premier League football in their last season at Goodison Park next year.

But with the 777 Partners drama releasing fresh updates every day, the club is finding themselves in a situation where they need to explain how the stadium development will be smoothly funded in order to finish construction by the following year, whether that is good or bad for Blues fans.

Given the recent lawsuit and restructuring reports from the US, supporters of 777 would understandably be questioning the club’s ability to repay outstanding loans had they been the consortium to take over the team.

However, Moshiri has now openly expressed his misgivings about the firm in waiting, and the takeover dispute continues while the stadium is being renovated.

Investors are anticipated to be lining up to leave Merseyside once the stadium is constructed, given the annual revenue it will generate. However, they must first walk a tightrope to get there.
