It’s been less than a week since the Dallas Mavericks lost in five games to the Boston Celtics in the 2024 NBA Finals, and there have already been numerous rumors and reports about this team.

Dallas is expected to make a move for Tobias Harris this summer, and there have been rumors that the team is interested in drafting Bronny James.

This offseason has already seen one trade, with the Chicago Bulls trading Alex Caruso to the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for Josh Giddey. Dallas has made trades in recent summers, and it appears that this year will be no exception, as the father of one of the Mavs guards has stated that he will be traded.

Tim Hardaway Jr.’s father says the Mavericks will trade him this summer.

Tim Hardaway Sr., the Mavericks’ father, took to Instagram to congratulate his son on a successful season. One of the top comments on the post (which appears to have been deleted) reads: “They shipping him out after this season,” referring to Hardaway Jr.

Hardaway Sr. then replied, “yes they are. And we want to have a new opportunity to shine. We didn’t like what happen. We are ready to go.”

Hardaway Sr. has always been one to criticize the Mavericks, even throwing Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving under the bus, but going so far as to say that Hardaway Jr. will be traded this summer is outrageous. Hardaway Jr. has clearly struggled for the Mavericks this season, and his father’s decision to add to the distraction was not the best one.

There’s no way Hardaway Jr. can play well when his father disparages his teammates, and now his father is claiming that the Mavs will trade him this summer. It was clear during the playoffs that Hardaway Jr.’s time in Dallas was coming to an end, and his father’s public statement makes it even more likely.

Hardaway Jr. was also the subject of trade rumors last summer, and he is someone to keep an eye on if the Mavs make a trade this summer. It was shocking that Hardaway Sr. openly stated this, and only time will tell if the Mavs decide to trade him this offseason.

Stay tuned for the latest on the Dallas Mavericks and Tim Hardaway Jr. this offseason.
