Celtic F.C
The most recent Celtic transfer news on Nicolas Kuhn, Sydney van Hooijdonk and Joe Hart.
The Hoops have yet to open their January window.
We’re already a week into the transfer window, and despite predictions of a busy January at Celtic, things have yet to get started.
Brendan Rodgers has admitted that he requires more quality, and with Daizen Maeda, Oh Hyeon-gyu, Reo Hatate, Yang, and Marco Tilio departing for the Asian Cup, the squad requires reinforcements. For that reason, the forward areas may be prioritised, and one name that has been mentioned is German winger Nicolas Kuhn.
The Hoops are said to be interested in the Rapid Vienna winger, who is valued at around £2 million. However, their sports director, Markus Katzer, has stated that he does not anticipate any of his players leaving during the January transfer window.
“I assume that everyone will be with us in the second half of the season,” he told Kronen Zeitung, “I haven’t heard anything to the contrary.”
Left-back is an area Rodgers is looking at as he seeks serious competition for Greg Taylor. Rangers have been linked with FC Twente star Gijs Smal, who is out of contract in the summer and has been dubbed ‘the new Maldini’.
Sydney van Hooijdonk has long been mentioned as a striker option, and according to TuttoMercato, he is still on the radar after being told by Bologna manager Thiago Motta that he can leave the club this month.
Meanwhile, Rodgers has addressed Joe Hart‘s future, stating that he will meet with the veteran custodian soon to discuss possibly extending his stay beyond this summer.
“It’s not something we’re looking into right now.” “There are some other things we need to look into first,” he explained.
“There will be positions in the summer that we will be able to improve on, and the same will be true in January.” But I enjoy working with Joe; he’s a wonderful person. Hopefully, he will continue. We haven’t discussed it. I think he’s just happy to be playing at that age. Joe’s family lives in the south, so he has made a significant commitment to come up here.
“Are you going to stay up here without your family if you’re not a No. 1?” Joe has a long career, and I enjoy working with him every day. He exudes a lot of energy and has been an excellent team leader. So, towards the end of the season, he and I will talk.”
Luis Palma is at the centre of a transfer saga, with his former club Vida claiming that they are owed money from Aris due to the inclusion of a sell-on percentage when they sold him to the Greek side.
He insists that if they are not paid the £500,000 they believe they are owed, they will take the matter to FIFA.
While Nat Phillips has returned to Liverpool after a brief loan spell, he has sent a message to Celtic and their fans.
“It was a pleasure and a privilege to represent @celticfc and their supporters,” he wrote. I wish everyone at the club the best of luck for the remainder of the season and in the future.”
