Nottingham Forest
There are rumours that Nottingham Forest may sign another Anthony Elanga for £0 this summer.
According to rumours, Nottingham Forest may now sign a second Anthony Elanga this summer, this time on a free transfer.
The Sweden international was acquired by the Garibaldi in July 2023 for a cool £15 million from Manchester United. During his first season at the City Ground, he scored five goals and provided nine assists in 36 Premier League appearances.
In the Premier League the previous season, not even players like Bruno Fernandes and Phil Foden scored that many goals.
Rumour has it that Nottingham Forest may now be able to sign a player who is comparable to Anthony Elanga.
While Manchester United gets ready to release Omari Forson, Nottingham Forest may be able to sign Anthony Elanga 2.0 for nothing.
According to a report in the Manchester Evening News, Omari Forson will soon be released by Manchester United because the team was unable to come to an agreement on a new deal with the 19-year-old.
Similar to Elanga, the England U20 international can play anywhere along the front line. As evidenced by his Transfermarkt page, he will be seen on the left, right, and central throughout the 2023–24 campaign.
When sprinting at opponents, the two also have an amazing turn of speed and directness.
It’s interesting to note that Forson and Elanga actually played eight games together in Old Trafford’s youth system, with the latter likely aspiring to be like the £15 million player.
It’s interesting to note that the Manchester Evening News claims Forson has turned down every contract offer from Manchester United because he wants to play more frequently elsewhere.
The teenager made his senior debut at Old Trafford the previous season when Erik ten Hag gave him four Premier League appearances, including a start. However, this is now an opportunity for another club to sign this gifted player for nothing.
Ross Wilson must keep a watch on the free agent scene.
It is now commonly known that in order for Nottingham Forest to abide by the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), a significant sale must be completed by June 30.
Even after that, Ross Wilson needs to make sure he is getting the best deal in the market to protect Nottingham Forest from future financial difficulties and point deductions.
Taking advantage of the many intriguing opportunities available in the free agent market, where players like Forson will be spending the summer, would be a prudent course of action in this situation.
There is undoubtedly a lot of quality to be picked up for nothing, as evidenced by the likes of Wilfred Ndidi, Memphis Depay, Ryan Sessegnon, Kelechi Iheanacho, Daichi Kamada, and Ben Johnson, who are all expected to become free agents soon.
