Tom English Mocks Celtic Fans Over Response to Philippe Clement Comments
Tom English, the BBC Scotland reporter, has humorously criticized Celtic fans for their reaction to his interview with Rangers manager Philippe Clement.

The Belgian coach, who has faced scrutiny at Ibrox this season, has also been linked as “a serious contender” for the vacant Belgium national team position following Dominic Tedesco’s dismissal.
In an in-depth interview with Clement on 17 January (via BBC Sport), English encountered an unusual response from Celtic supporters. Taking to X (formerly Twitter) the following day, English quipped: “Every comment on this interview with the Rangers manager has come from Celtic folk.”
Bizarre Reactions and Accusations
The reporter’s lighthearted remark highlights the curious nature of the Celtic fan reaction, given the interview centered on Clement and Rangers. Accusations that English promotes a “Rangers agenda” followed, though he has brushed off these claims, suggesting his relationship with Celtic fans remains strained.

Despite this, Celtic are enjoying a commanding lead in the Scottish Premiership, sitting 13 points ahead of Rangers in January, showing little sign of slowing down.
Clement’s Mixed Season

Rangers had shown glimpses of hope under Clement, particularly with their emphatic 3-0 victory over Celtic on 2 February. However, subsequent draws against Hibernian and Dundee halted their momentum.
Commanding home wins over St. Johnstone and Aberdeen have reinforced the club’s strength at Ibrox, where they remain unbeaten this season with 11 wins and one draw from 12 matches. However, away performances continue to raise concerns.
Away Struggles Persist
As noted by Soccer Stats, Rangers have struggled on the road, collecting only 13 points from a possible 31 in away fixtures. Clement’s ability to address this weakness could define the remainder of the season.
The next test for Rangers’ manager comes on 23 January, with a challenging trip to Old Trafford to face Manchester United in the Europa League—a daunting opportunity to end their away struggles against formidable opposition.
For now, Tom English’s remarks have added a touch of humor to the ongoing rivalry between Celtic and Rangers supporters, further fueling the intense atmosphere surrounding Glasgow football.
