Tottenham Hotspur is expected to sign a ‘all-action’ deal. Celtic player Ange Postecoglou knows very well.
When Ange Postecoglou joined Tottenham Hotspur from Celtic in the summer, few at Hotspur Way knew what to expect.
Celtic fans understood what he was all about after he delivered a historic and entertaining Treble during his final season at the club.
Fast forward to the present, and Tottenham fans are finally getting to see Ange Postecoglou’s magic, but will he go into the market to sign any Celtic players who have served him well?
Former Scotland striker Kenny Miller has been told that the Tottenham manager is considering signing one of the Japanese players from Parkhead during the January transfer window.
If that’s the case, he believes it’s’more likely’ to be ‘all-action’ midfielder Reo Hatate, as reported by Clyde 1.
The 26-year-old thrived in the J-League before being signed by Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou, where he quickly established himself as a key player.
In the summer, there was speculation that the Japan international would leave, but he instead signed a new contract until 2028.

“If it’s one of the Japanese players, it would more likely be Hatate, more than the other two,” Miller went on to say.
“My concern is, and I know Ange obviously signed him and knew him well, which is why he brought him over; he had a great season or half-season last year. However, due to injuries and poor form in the past 8-10 months, it is unclear if he is capable of performing at his peak. Absolutely, I do. When he walked in, he exuded energy and appeared to be a dynamic midfielder. He could be building the play alongside Callum McGregor. We’ve also seen his goals from early in his Celtic career. He can see a pass. Very comfortable on the ball.
“So, I believe he could fit into the English Premier League; there are many questions about whether he would join Tottenham. But if it had to be one of the Japanese players, Hatate would be the top choice for me.”
Reo Hatate is a Premier League-level player.
There is no doubt that he is one of Celtic’s best players, and one of the most entertaining to watch when he is on form.
A player who can take the ball in tight situations, he enjoys adding flair to his game and can carry it forward to score goals.
Hatate is one of Celtic’s most valuable assets, and they would do anything to keep him, regardless of whether he is worthy of playing for a top Premier League team.
Brendan Rodgers wants to help the Bhoys progress and improve in Europe over the next few years, and he needs to keep Hatate.
