Villa stole Hammers’ target, but Duran is still on.

Jaden Philogene’s return to Aston Villa could speed Jhon Duran’s arrival at West Ham following Monday’s Copa America final in Miami.

West Ham were interested in Philogene, but the Midlands club had a £13 million buyout clause and a 30% sell-on clause in their original agreement with Hull City, giving them the upper hand.

Although the winger generally plays in a different position than Colombia’s Duran, Villa was said to be eager to sign an attacking player before allowing Duran’s departure.

Colombia faces Argentina in the Copa America final, and Sky Sports reports that West Ham will attempt to complete the signing after that game. Darmesh Sheth stated yesterday that the youthful Villa attacker has become West Ham’s major striker target.

Philogene has signed a five-year contract, with the convoluted transfer listed at £13 million, albeit his valuation is estimated to be higher due to the 30% sell-on clause not being relevant.
