Watford are gearing up for another season in the Championship this summer.

Tom Cleverley has taken over as manager of the Hornets, and he will be making his managerial debut this season.

He is tasked with improving Watford’s bottom-half finish from last season.

Meanwhile, Luton Town was relegated and will play in the second tier again this season.

Taylor, 21, spent last season on two separate loan spells. Initially, he appeared in 27 games for Colchester United, scoring 12 goals and assisting on two others.

He then moved to Lincoln City, where he scored ten goals and provided three assists in 19 League One games.

After demonstrating his ability to perform in the third tier, it appears that Championship clubs are now willing to bet on him.

Despite their rivalry with Luton Town, Watford intend to pursue a permanent deal for Taylor this summer, but there is competition elsewhere in the Championship for his services.

The 21-year-old has a lot of potential to realize.

The Hornets would likely be able to provide more game time than Luton Town, so it could be a wise decision for his future.

Taylor will need to be managed carefully due to his lack of Championship experience, but last season demonstrated that he can deliver in League One, so the step up shouldn’t be too difficult for the youngster.

In the upcoming season, Luton Town aim to return to the Premier League.

Last season, Rob Edwards’ side was not expected to survive, but they performed better in the top flight than Burnley and Sheffield United.

Watford simply need to improve. This season, they must return to the top half of the division, but first, the club must lay a solid foundation, which will require giving Cleverley time.

Taylor would be a solid signing for them if they can pull it off, but even without him, they must improve on their 15th-place finish last season.
