It never rains but pours at Forest, and no sooner had Taiwo Awoniyi returned to give Forest a boost up front than another striker sustained an injury.

Forest striker Wood was substituted against Arsenal at halftime, and he did not appear to be injured as he left the pitch.

However, the head coach has stated that Wood will be absent for some time as Forest seek to remain in the Premier League.

Espirito Santo told The Athletic that Wood is out. He will be out for some time. Hopefully not too long, but we’ll see. We’re frustrated, but this happens. Chris was uncomfortable, so we performed a scan, and there is a minor injury.”
Forest striker search now makes sense.

Forest’s decision to try and sign Chuba Akpom on deadline day came as a surprise, but it now makes sense why the Reds wanted another striker.
Taiwo Awoniyi is now the only fit option in the squad, and Espirito Santo will ultimately rely on a striker with his own injury concerns to stay fit.

Wood’s injury is a huge blow given that he is Forest’s leading goalscorer this season, and he will be sorely missed.

If Awoniyi is injured again, Forest will be severely weakened, which will be detrimental to the club’s chances of avoiding relegation.

Hopefully, Forest will be able to get Wood back sooner than expected and reclaim his role as a goal scorer.
