Welsh media deliver intriguing verdict on Nottingham Forest star Neco Williams
What the national media thinks of Neco Williams’ performance
Bellamy’s team led 2-0 early on as Wales ran riot in the first three minutes of last night’s match.
Although Montenegro managed to re-enter the match, Wales had secured a decisive three points in the Nations League.
Following his performance, Williams received praise for his most recent national team appearance from a few media outlets that gave him a score of out of 10.
Williams started out in a more advanced role where he looked to cause problems before returning to defence after Roberts was injured, according to Y Clwb Pel-Droed, who gave him an 8 out of 10. He was a workhorse covering every blade of grass, putting his body in danger and being a strong defensive player.
Wales Online, who gave him a 7 out of 10 rating and said he was “really assured in possession,” was equally impressed. A somewhat successful outing overall, though I was caught off guard a few times.
Williams’ work at Forest is still very much in progress.
Williams contributed to his nation’s score last night by setting up Harry Wilson for an incredible long-range strike.
His offensive ability has never been questioned during his time at the City Ground, but he has only scored one goal and provided two assists.
For a player who is purportedly superior at attacking rather than defensive aspects of the game, that is insufficient.
In light of this, Williams needs to continue developing, and with options available across the team, the Welshman will be looking to bring his form for his country to Forest in the coming months.
