Scotland vs Croatia Prediction and Betting Tips
Scotland will look for their first competitive win in 14 months when they face Croatia at Hampden on Friday in their penultimate Nations League A fixture.

The national team is on their worst ever run of competitive matches without a win (8), with their only win in 16 overall coming against minnows Gibraltar in a pre-Euros warm-up friendly.

The form book does not paint a rosy picture, but there was reason to be optimistic after Scotland’s goalless draw against Portugal at Hampden last month, when they shut out Cristiano Ronaldo and co. to earn their first point in Group A1.

There is more than just pride at stake. Steve Clarke’s side are at the bottom of the table and will be relegated if they lose to Croatia while Poland avoids defeat against Portugal in Porto, or if they draw and Poland wins.

However, victory would give Scotland the opportunity to surpass Poland by winning in Warsaw on Monday, with second place still a possibility. Scotland’s third-place finish sends them into a relegation play-off against one of League B’s runners-up.

World Cup seeding positions are also at stake. If Scotland can climb to second place, they will be guaranteed a spot in pot one for next month’s qualifying draw. However, they are in grave danger of missing out on pot two. With 12 groups to be drawn, Scotland is ranked 26th in UEFA, which will heavily influence seedings. They need to regain some ground.

Scotland vs Croatia TV channel

The match is not being broadcast on television. There is no broadcast agreement in place because Viaplay, which held the rights to Scotland’s Nations League ties, has left the UK market. While ITV/STV stepped in to show the games against Poland and Portugal in September, no such agreement was reached for the October fixtures against Croatia and Portugal, so the game will not be shown on linear television this time around.

Scotland vs Croatia team news

Ten of Scotland’s starters against Portugal are available this time, but Steve Clarke also has Jack Hendry, Greg Taylor, Scott McKenna, John McGinn, Stuart Armstrong, Lawrence Shankland, and Tommy Conway available again. Scotland’s head coach revealed that the combinations were giving him “sleepless nights”. Che Adams, Torino’s forward, is the only one missing from the last starting lineup due to a thigh injury. Lyndon Dykes is the most experienced alternative in terms of international caps, but his only goal since joining Birmingham in the summer was against Fulham Under-21s. Shankland is having a rare dry spell, scoring only one goal for Hearts this season. Conway has five goals for Middlesbrough and will be joined by teammate Ben Doak this week, which may increase his chances of playing at some point. Lewis Morgan has also withdrawn from the squad, with Stuart Armstrong taking his place.
