What Danilo was spotted doing after Nottingham Forest’s win over Luton speaks volumes
Danilo spotted hugging Nottingham Forest staff at full-time
Danilo must’ve been incredibly emotional coming onto the pitch for the first time in 2025 and everyone could see what it meant to him through his full-time actions.
Journalist Paul Taylor posted to X describing Danilo embracing the entire Forest squad full-time, alongside the medical staff who nursed him back to health.
For all Forest supporters, the moment was the cherry on top. Danilo’s emotional return and the team’s FA Cup progress made the day at the City Ground unforgettable.
Although Danilo will be relishing the moment, he will be aware that he has a battle ahead of him to regain his starting spot in Espirito Santo’s side that is vying for a spot in the European football league.
Danilo faces stern competition for his Nottingham Forest place
The Brazilian made 34 appearances for Forest last season, starting every match in April and May as Espirito Santo guided Forest to Premier League survival.
However, the midfield duo of Ryan Yates and Elliot Anderson has been outstanding for the Forest manager this season, so these prior performances will be meaningless.
Anderson, who moved from Newcastle United to Forest in the summer, has taken advantage of Danilo’s injury to establish himself as a staple in the midfield and leads the team in assists with five so far this season.
Espirito Santo has a diverse midfield combination thanks to Yates’ consistency and Anderson’s inventiveness, so Danilo will need to seize every chance to re-establish himself in the center of the Forest midfield.
