Newcastle are said to be keen on Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

There have been rumours of Dominic Calvert-Lewin joining Newcastle United in the summer.

According to The Telegraph, the Magpies are interested in signing the striker to possibly take Callum Wilson’s place should he leave. According to reports, Calvert-Lewin is “much admired” by Newcastle’s hiring team, who thinks he could get better under Eddie Howe.

After struggling with fitness during the previous two seasons, Calvert-Lewin had a largely injury-free 2023–24 season, netting eight goals in 38 games. Four of his efforts came in his last seven games, one of which was a penalty kick that gave Everton a 1-1 draw at St. James’ Park against Newcastle.

The 27-year-old’s contract with Goodison Park is still in effect for another year. Additionally, in order to help stabilise the club’s unstable financial situation, director of football Kevin Thelwell has acknowledged that Everton will need to sell during the transfer window.

Calvert-Lewin has made no secret of his love for Everton; in fact, he even mentioned it in the matchday programme prior to the team’s season-ending 1-0 victory over Sheffield United. He stated: “People talk about how important it is to live up to the club’s spirit, and I feel like I have done that naturally over the years because I understand how important it is to people.”

“At times, I’ve felt just as furious as them because I take such great pride in this role and in donning Everton’s No. 9 shirt. Being honest about it doesn’t bother me because I experience everyone’s highs and lows in the same way. I’m just a human. In the end, the players want to see a reflection of themselves when they look on the pitch. They desire to witness a player giving it their all and, in my instance, netting goals. People look to me to win games and create big moments, so it’s part of the job. I adore that. I adore the notion that “he’s doing the business for us.” I thrive in situations where the question is: “Who is going to produce for us?”

And on Instagram yesterday, the England international posted a message to Blues fans. It said: “Thank you Toffees for all your support this season, we stuck together through adversity and came out on top. May the pressure to be great continue to be a privilege.”
