Why Celtic icon Scott Brown will not become St Johnstone’s new manager
Brown was one of the names Saints owner, Adam Webb, was keen to hire to replace the departed Craig Levein.
The pursuit of Scott Brown by St Johnstone
Despite playing one additional game, Scott Brown of Ayr United is enjoying a fantastic season and leads the Scottish Championship.
However, the Daily Mail reports that despite holding talks with the former Celtic captain earlier this week, Brown decided that a move to Perth wasn’t for him.
Undeterred, Webb, the owner of the Saints, tried one final time on Wednesday to get Brown to move to McDiarmid Park.
Nevertheless, the Celtic veteran refused to back down and will continue to lead Ayr United for the foreseeable future despite two attempts to change his mind.
It is obvious that whatever Webb and Brown talked was insufficient to persuade Brown to take the next management step, and Ayr has clearly gained by St Johnstone’s setback.
St Johnstone will now concentrate on Peter Leven of Aberdeen and Tiernan Lynch, the coach of Larne.
