Daniel Podence was sent off for hitting a defender during Wolves’ training game against Como after allegedly racist remarks against Hwang Hee-chan.

Wolves were ahead 1-0 in the 68th minute when players from both teams collided, resulting in Podence striking at a defender and being sent out.

The altercation erupted after Hwang accused a Como player of racial behavior, and Wolves players were outraged in the aftermath.

Both sides’ players and coaches were in discussion for several minutes, and Wolves head coach Gary O’Neil spoke with Hwang as the game was in doubt.

However, the South Korean attacker, who has previously faced racial comments in his career, insisted on continuing the preseason practice game.

“Hee-chan overheard a racist remark,” O’Neil told the Express and Star.

“You could see a coming together, and Hee-chan was clearly disturbed about it, as did the lads; you could hear a number of them attempting to console Hee-chan and defend him.
