Worth his weight in gold’: Sky Sports pundit says one Nottingham Forest player ‘deserves a special mention’
Sky Sports pundit says one Nottingham Forest player ‘deserves a special mention’ – it’s not Anthony Elanga
Sky Sports pundit in awe of Murillo’s performance vs Tottenham
Commenting on Sky Sports’ live text coverage of the game, Rowe made a point of mentioning Murillo specifically given his strong performance in the first half.
“It was a fairly even game, but in the end, Forest made their chances count,” Rowe remarked. Johnson gave Tottenham a close call, but their stoic defensive play thus far has left them disappointed. Murillo deserves special recognition since he is invaluable to this Forest squad.
In addition to keeping an excellent Dominic Solanke quiet for the entire 90 minutes, Murillo was able to stop Spurs’ several attempts at outside shots in the second half.
It was clear from examining Murillo’s statistics after the Tottenham victory why Rowe gave him a “special mention.”
Murillo’s brilliant performance vs Tottenham in numbers
Spurs didn’t attempt to trouble the Forest squad aerially, but Murillo still won his only aerial duel in the contest, alongside all three of the tackles he attempted.
In addition, he made nine clearances, including three headed ones from late set pieces from Spurs that might have cost Forest dearly.
When given the opportunity, Murillo demonstrated his skill with the ball by completing two dribbles during the match. Even though he only had a 67% passing success percentage during the game, his defensive prowess demonstrated that he could make an impression on the Forest manager in a variety of ways.
Murillo has received acclaim from Premier League defense legends like Ashley Williams, and his performances like today’s are just another example of his impressive play.
