‘Wow’… Robbie Savage was stunned by what he’d heard from Chris Sutton about Celtic.

Over the last few weeks, Celtic’s transfer business has been closely scrutinised.

Even during the transfer window, questions were raised about why the club appeared reluctant to spend any of the £70 million they claimed to have in their bank account.

And when former Celtic hero Chris Sutton says he is now questioning not only the recruitment department but also the Hoops manager, he astounded fellow BBC pundit Robbie Savage.

TBR Celtic reported earlier that Sutton was furious about Celtic’s failure to sign a left-back in January, and Savage was taken aback by his colleague’s criticism of his former club.

Speaking on BBC 606, Savage said, “Wow, after all I’ve heard for three or four weeks, you’re now questioning the club’s recruitment.”

“It’s falling apart, and the wheels are falling off.”

“That’s all I’m hearing.”

Sutton responded calmly, “Once again, a massive exaggeration.”

Indeed, from the outside looking in, it appears that Celtic’s title defence has faltered, but as we all know, anything can happen in football.
Brendan Rodgers has dealt with an incredible number of injuries this season. With Cameron Carter-Vickers and Reo Hatate out for yet another extended period of time, the Hoops coach has never had his full roster available at any one time this season.
This, combined with a poor summer and January transfer window, has exacerbated Celtic’s current situation.

With 14 games remaining, the title race is still wide open, and Celtic remain league leaders. Much will depend on what happens on Wednesday night.

Celtic face a struggling Hibs, while Rangers host Aberdeen, who have recently hired Neil Warnock as manager.

The midweek fixture schedule will undoubtedly provide insight into how the title race will unfold.
